To regulate, supervise and develop the SACCO industry through promotion of prudent practices to protect member’s interests, enhance access to financial services and foster financial stability.

THE MANDATE OF THE AUTHORITY AS PROVIDED BY THE ACT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: 
  1. License Sacco societies to carry out deposit-taking business in accordance with the Sacco Societies Act, No.14 of 2008; 
  2. Regulate and supervise Sacco societies. 
  3. Hold, manage and apply the General Fund of the Authority in accordance with the provisions of the Sacco Societies Act, No.14 of 2008 ; 
  4. Levy contributions in accordance with the Sacco Societies Act, No.14 of 2008; 
  5. Do all such other things as may be lawfully directed by the Minister; and 
  6. Perform such other functions as are conferred on it by the Sacco Societies Act, No.14 of 2008 or by any other written law
