On Monday 18th December 2023, the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) held a tree-planting exercise at Machakos County’s Iveti Forest where about 2,700 indigenous species seedlings were planted. This aligns with the Presidential Directive on this noble task of planting 15 billion trees to raise the nation’s forest and tree cover percentage from 12% to 30% by 2032. This exercise was spearheaded by the Chief Executive Officer Peter Njuguna in collaboration with National Environmental Trust Fund (NETFUND), Kenya Forest Service – Machakos station, Universal Traders Sacco and the local Community Forest Association.
