On Monday 12th May 2025, the Authority joined hands with industry players and government leaders in a transformative tree planting initiative at Chepalungu Forest, Siongiroi Block in Bomet County.
Organized by the Office of the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, the event brought together stakeholders from across the cooperative movement, Bomet County Government, learners from primary and TVET institutions, and community members — all united in the cause of restoring Kenya’s forest cover.
Led by the South Rift Sacco Association and spearheaded by Imarisha Sacco, the Sacco fraternity contributed over 10,000 seedlings, part of the 100,000 indigenous trees planted. An additional 3,000 mango and 5,000 exotic tree seedlings were donated to local farmers to promote agroforestry.
This effort supports Kenya’s goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032, with the Chepalungu Forest Station targeting 2 million trees in this planting season alone.
Gracing the event were top dignitaries including the Deputy Chief of Public Service, Mr. Amos Gathecha; PS for Devolution, Bomet Governor, Dr. Hilary Barchok, CBS; KFS Chairman, Mr. Titus Kipkoech Korir; and SASRA Board Chairman, Hon. Jack Ranguma, among others.
The Authority reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship anchored under the Corporate Social Responsibility and Investment policy.
Together, we are sowing the seeds of a greener, healthier Kenya.
