SASRA Board and Management Retreat Focuses on SACCO Sector Reforms

Posted on March 13, 2026March 13, 2026 By Editor

The Authority today held a strategic Board and Management retreat in Mombasa, graced by the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Co operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Hon. FCPA Dr. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, EGH, and the Principal Secretary for Cooperatives, Mr. Patrick Kilemi.

The retreat provided an important platform to reflect on the state of regulation in the SACCO sector, review ongoing institutional reforms, and align on priority actions to strengthen supervision, governance and accountability. Discussions focused on the need for a stronger, more responsive and better resourced regulatory framework that safeguards members’ funds and promotes a stable, credible and sustainable SACCO sector.

The Authority appreciates the guidance and support expressed by the Cabinet Secretary and the Principal Secretary and remains committed to implementing key reform measures aimed at enhancing oversight, promoting prudent governance, strengthening inspections, advancing digitization, and protecting the interests of SACCO members across the country.

SASRA is committed to delivering meaningful impact to the cooperative sector through sound policy, effective regulation and continuous engagement with industry stakeholders.
