Empowering the Future: SASRA Takes Financial Literacy to Khadijah Secondary School, Mombasa

Posted on March 13, 2026March 13, 2026 By Editor

On Thursday, 12th March 2026, the Authority visited Khadijah Secondary School in Mombasa for a Corporate Social Responsibility outreach focused on financial literacy and learner support.

Led by the Board of Directors and Senior Management, the outreach featured a financial literacy session for 174 Form Four candidates aimed at enhancing their understanding of savings, financial planning and the role of SACCOs in promoting economic empowerment. Through the session, the students were introduced to the people centred business model of SACCOs and the importance of cultivating a savings culture early in life.

As part of the outreach, the Authority also donated books, exercise books, pens and sanitary towels to support learning and promote dignity among learners, especially girls. This reflects SASRA’s broader commitment to social equity and community wellbeing.

The initiative is aligned to SASRA’s Strategic Plan 2023 to 2027, which places strong emphasis on public education and financial literacy as key pillars in building a financially inclusive, member centric and stable SACCO industry. It also contributes to national development priorities under Kenya Vision 2030 and the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

The outreach formed part of the Authority’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and demonstrates SASRA’s commitment to empowering young people as future drivers of Kenya’s socio economic transformation.
