Posted on June 15, 2026 By Editor

The Authority held 4th Regulatory Policy and Legal Roundtable for Deposit-Taking SACCOs, held from 10th to 12th June 2026 at Lake Naivasha Resort, Nakuru County.

The forum brought together SACCO leaders, Government officials, regulators and professional bodies to discuss key regulatory, policy, legal and operational issues affecting the subsector.

Discussions focused on governance, Risk-Based SACCO Supervision, quality of regulatory data, financial reporting, audit concerns, cybersecurity, responsible use of technology and compliance with applicable laws and standards.

The Principal Secretary for Co-operatives, Mr. Patrick Kilemi, CBS, reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening the Co-operative Movement and called on SACCO leaders to uphold integrity, accountability and professionalism in managing members’ funds.

SASRA Board Chairperson Hon. Jack Ranguma and Chief Executive Officer David Sandagi led the Authority’s engagements with participants, emphasising the need for sound governance, accurate reporting, strong internal controls and timely resolution of audit findings.

The Roundtable concluded with a commitment by the Authority and regulated SACCOs to sustain constructive engagement and work together to strengthen the stability, resilience and member-centred growth of the SACCO subsector.
